Saturday's Child
Through the Saturday’s Child program, Atascocita Methodist partners with local elementary schools (Oaks, Timbers and Maplebrook Elementary) to provide families in the Atascocita area with groceries for the weekend. For 52 weekends a year, grocery staples are provided to families of children on the free and reduced school lunch program. Atascocita Methodist works with school counselors to identify these needy families.
Currently, our adult Sunday School classes serve this ministry by buying, sorting, and delivering the food on Saturday morning, but there are several ways you can get involved individually or with your family:
- Volunteer as a driver to deliver the groceries to families on Saturday mornings.
- We are now operating a Saturday’s Child Food Pantry for those who wish to help donate groceries for the families. Bring your donation (non-perishable goods only) to the Asbury Kitchen pantry and place them on the shelves labeled “Saturday’s Child” OR simply drop off your items at the church front office.
- Financial donations are always needed and appreciated.
