Each service on Easter had something special about it. However, at the traditional service, I was especially touched by a ministry that may often go unnoticed.
Your Administrative Board met last Thursday evening to discuss the Governor’s lifting of the mask mandate and how AUMC would move forward towards whatever our new "normal" will be. Let me say that they did a terrific job modeling love and respect for one another in discussing a very difficult topic.
Thankfully technology has improved substantially, but even now you might find yourself using this ubiquitous phrase if what you say cannot be heard by the other person. Likewise, what the other person has to say may be especially important for you to hear.
I don’t know about you, but I really miss going to concerts. One of the industries that has suffered the most during the pandemic is the Performing Arts. Last March, it seemed as if someone came and pulled the rug out from under me and said, “figure it out!”
I spent part of this last week preparing to teach a Religious Emblem Class, God and Family, to a group of cub scouts. The class is designed to help youth understand the importance of family, as well as God’s role in a healthy family. The material is taught through a metaphor of pizza - because what 5th grader doesn’t love pizza?

There is something refreshing when contemplating the possibilities for each day. Given this past year’s pandemic, perhaps you have plans to make up some milestones in the days ahead.
This year, Christmas Eve might be a bit quieter as we manage through this pandemic that has curtailed holiday festivities. “Quieter” might not be a bad way to celebrate; just as it was on that night all those years ago.
